Didn’t know Vincent Price could be so evil! Witchfinder General review!

My experiences with Vincent Price films is almost next to none.  All I got is his voice and likeness appearances on the Scooby Doo cartoons.  I didn’t quite know what to expect when delving into the Odeon Entertainment’s Blu-ray edition of Witchfinder General.  Something to the like of being light hearted and tame was my initial impressions before even watching the movie because I had this idea that Vincent Price was too family oriented and that the late 60’s wouldn’t allow much to be reveal as far as shock and vulgarity value goes.  Boy, was I wrong…

As England is in distress due to a civil war amongst the Royalist and Oliver Cromwell’s Roundheads, an unforeseen man rises to power exploiting village superstitions for his own gain in wealth and sexual prowess.  Matthew Hopkins travels from village to village proclaiming those innocent to be witches and having them confess by brutally sadistic tortures in which there are no ways out.  These tortures are carried out by his brute of an accomplice John Stearne.  When Hopkins and Stearne kill a falsely prosecuted priest and repeatedly rape his niece, they invoke the vengeance of militant Richard Marshall who is engaged to the priest’s niece.

Its Bloggin’ Evil Not Dead!

What may seem to  be the death of Its Bloggin’ Evil is not true.  Yes, I have been away for awhile…away from my keyboard.  Work and life has swallowed me whole at the moment, but I still have plenty to review and to write about (literally, right now I’m about to watch Odeon Entertainment’s Blu-ray region free version of Witchfinder General with Vincent Price…review to come).

In summary, I just wanted to say…I’m still ALIVE!

Handcuff Evil! R.I.P.D. news!

The Big Lebowski and True Grit star Jeff Bridges has been confirmed for a buddy cop undead comedy called R.I.P.D. which stands for Rest In Peace Department.  The Academy Award winning actor joins along side Ryan Reynolds in this Universal Studios film about two dead cops, one recently dead and the other a long time dead gunslinger, make their routine round on trying to keep the dead quiet.  Sounds a bit like Dead Heat, doesn’t it?

Evil takes a bite out of your ass! Shark Night 3D trailer!

Closely have I been following this project called Shark Night 3D.  It went through many name changes until it just landed the very simple, generic, yet to the point title you see today.  David R. Ellis (The Final Destination, Final Destination 2 and Snakes on a Plane) helms the killer shark flick and I’m very okay with that.  However, these are not the reasons why I absolutely been glued to every piece of news about Shark Night 3D!  I’m obsessed with these creatures of the sea; my obsession is more like a love for sharks.

King’s adapted 70’s film gets a makeover! Carrie remake news!

In 1976, Brian DePalma directed Sissy Spacek and John Travolta in Carrie which is about a young high school girl who is constantly tormented by her peers.  Carrie discovers she has telekinetic powers and uses them gruesomely against her tormenters, and the rest of the school, when they play a disgusting prank on her at prom involving pig blood.  The film was a major hit for not only DePalma, but it damn well jump started the careers of Spacek and Travolta.

Now there is talk of a remake being composed by MGM and Song Screen Gems (Resident Evil franchise) who want to have a fresh take on the Stephen King novel.  This retake is being penned by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa who had wrote the stage play Spider-Man:  Turn off the Dark.  Aguirre-Sacasa was brought in to write a more novel faithful version of Carrie.

Here’s hoping for the best.
