Woman Vs Shark! “In The Deep” news!
Any Shark related news is good news for me, being a shark enthusiast. Today, the news across that a new shark film, entitled “In The Deep,” spec script was bought by Sony Pictures. The script, described as “Jaws” meets “127 Hours,” revolves around a young female surfer, 60 feet from a remote beach shore, being stalked by a Great White shark from below.
Woman versus Nature and I’m lovin’ it (as McDonalds would say). “In The Deep” sounds intense and thrilling and with a shark being involved the film already has a soft spot in my heart!

Bill Murray’s Suggested Actresses for Female Ghostbuster Film.
Bill Murray will forever be an ultimate and timeless hero to everyone. If you don’t like Bill Murray, than you’re obviously an idiot because what is their not to like about a comedic icon who loves to crash weddings and end up being the face of all of American’s hipster community? So when news came out today that Bill Murray, at the Toronto International Film Festival, gave his his opinion on who should be cast in the new Ghostbuster film, I was rather disappointed in his taste.
Melissa McCarthy
Kristen Wiig
Linda Cardellini
Emma Stone
The list is…well…eh. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson were practically every day looking Joes and a couple of those guys weren’t really funny.
I, personally, would not suggest Melissa McCarthy. I could never in a million years image her with a proton pack strapped to her. Subtlety, in a comedy sense, was very much a part of the Ghostbuster persona and McCarthy has not one subtle bone in her body as she’s an “in-your-face” type comedy actress.
Kristen Wiig, I’m good with. I think she’s awkward enough like Murray to pull off the lead role for the film and still have a sexy side of her while busting some ghouls. Her comedy style could be comparable to Murray’s as she is not necessarily over the top with her performances and doesn’t try to steal the show but yet add to the material of the other cast members.
Linda Cardellini made a good Velma in the Scooby Doo movies. As a Ghostbuster, I don’t think she has what it takes as I picture Cardelline more of a Janine Melnitz type character, but since this is a Ghostbuster movie with all female cast, will Janine’s role be replaced by a nerdy, yet somewhat irresistibly cute, man? I shutter at the thought.
Emma Stone comes off a bit dry. Her role would resemble that of Ernie Hudson’s Winston – the character that just joins the ranks for a paycheck. To be one of the guys but stays in the background most of the time. Stone doesn’t have the on screen persona that the original trio (Murray, Aykroyd, and Ramis) possess and I would expect too many chefs in the kitchen amongst women star power.
So in all, Kristen Wiig was my only keeper, but who would I chose? Whom am I to fans? I’m certainly no Bill Murray, but I am a fan of film and of actresses and I think the following would be a great cast. Keep Kristen Wiig for the sole reasons I have above. Lets add in a blonde as in Amy Poehler with her subtleness and silliness works well. Mary Elizabeth Winstead would be my next choice because of her dark side that accompanies her – a good choice to be the Egon Spengler equivalent. Then either Mindy Kaling for her awkwardly funny quips or Rinko Kikuchi to be the stand out, kick ass Ghostbuster who seems standout like a sore thumb.
These are just my thoughts and I wouldn’t mind hearing yours!
More Horror! Alone in the Dark and Haunted House announcments
Didn’t get enough when Resident evil Revelations 2 was announced? Well then your in luck! Atari has announced two new horror titles during PAX Prime. Alone in the Dark: Illumination and Haunted House: Cryptic Graves both two new horror titles announced by Atari.
Alone in the Dark: Illumination will be yet another reboot of the Alone in the Dark series, why reboot it again is beyond me. The game play in Illumination will be different than its older titles and by different, I mean totally ruined. The game will feature a 4 player co-op story, which is ironic since the game is called Alone in the Dark, key word ”Alone”. So that is the first red flag of this game. It seems Atari is taking the Capcom path in making their horror series into an action game. Alone in the Dark: Illumination is only scheduled to be released on PC in 2015.
Haunted House: Cryptic Graves is of course another reboot in the Haunted House series and besides Alone in the Dark: Illumination, it seems more like a horror than a action adventure game. It will focus on mystery/puzzle solving inside of a haunted manor and will be in first person perspective. Haunted House: Cryptic Graves is scheduled to release on PC this fall.
Resident Evil Revelations 2. Is Capcom finally listening to their fans?
Well it seems Capcom is crawling back to its loyal horror fan base, but will we welcome them back with open arms? We can all agree that the latest Resident Evil games they have given us have been complete shit and has frustrated us to the point where we would just say ”fuck it” and stop playing. Today Capcom has announced Resident Evil Revelations 2. Nope, no Resident Evil 7 guess we’ll have to wait, but in the meantime we will have this sequel to the first Revelations game. No word on if this will be a direct sequel or an entirely different story but all we have right now about the game is a teaser trailer and one screenshot.
To be honest the trailer looks really good and gives me hope that the series may go back to its roots. Though i wish this wasn’t a sequel to the first Revelations, I feel that it doesn’t deserve a sequel, don’t get me wrong I liked the first Revelations, but to me it seems that there shouldn’t be a continuation.
